FAQ & Help
Master lead hunting with SignalHunt.
Tipps for the app
Signal Hunt has a few interesting features, try them, understand them. This is especially true for the filters.
Timing is everything, but not always
There isn't one "perfect" way to search. Sometimes sorting by "Hot" helps you find the big discussions where everyone is active, but other times sorting by "Date" lets you be the very first person to help someone with a fresh problem. Every niche is different, so play around with the filters to see what sticks.
Don't type twice
Switch on "Share Chips" in the sidebar. It keeps your search keywords synced across Reddit and Bluesky so you can jump between platforms without losing your place.
Use, don't abuse the AI
The "AI Insights" tool is a great best guess for filtering the noise, but it isn't magic. It might get things wrong or miss a detail, or two. Use it to help you, but this is not doing your work, it's not a magic trick - always double-check threads yourself.
Please note: The AI is gathering your first 5 posts from each platform, reflecting your current order. If you change filtering, you get other data for AI... as in - run it again!
Keep your projects/clients/apps etc. separate
Use "Save Project" to bookmark your keyword sets. This makes it easy to switch between different products or research without getting your leads mixed up.
Clear the deck
Once you've exported your leads, don't be afraid to hit "Clear all". It keeps your dashboard from getting cluttered so you can stay focused on the next batch.
Etiquette
It is not about broadcasting... it's about contribution.
Don't be the "faceless seller", you will be banned. Be the "problem-solver".
Reddit (the skepticism hub)
Reddit has a "zero-tolerance" policy for spam. To survive, you must use a "Human-First" approach:
-
The Sandwich Method
Don't lead with a link. State your empathy for the problem, provide a manual/free solution first, and then mention SignalHunt as an automated alternative at the end.
-
Founder Transparency
Redditors respect "Indie Hackers". Use the "Founder Frame": "Full disclosure, I built XX called XX because I was tired of hunting for these threads manually..."
-
Early Detection
Timing is everything. Use SignalHunt to find "Rising" threads. Being the first helpful voice in a new thread gives you the best chance of becoming the top-upvoted comment.
-
The "Karma" Tax
Don't post from a fresh account, earn like 50 comment karma by being a participant before you mention your tool.
Bluesky (the new kid on the block)
-
Direct Engagement
It is perfectly acceptable to reply directly to a post asking for a solution. The community is smaller and values "early adopter" tools.
-
Founder Personality
Your profile should clearly state you are the creator of SignalHunt. On Bluesky, "Selling" is often viewed as "Sharing".
Deep-dive
Why and how to warm up a social media account.
Account warming is the single most overlooked step in social media account creation — and skipping it is why most accounts get (shadow)banned within their first week.
What is Account Warming?
Building a history before you start posting. Platforms use automatic machine learning to identify accounts that behave like bots — fresh accounts with immediate aggressive activity trigger every red flag available.
Phase 1: Observation (Day 2-3)
Pure consumption. Just watch videos, scroll feeds, and browse. Do not follow anyone or post yet. You want to establish a "reader" profile first.
Phase 2: Interaction (Day 4-6)
Start small. Like a few posts per day, join 1-2 groups, or follow 5-10 relevant accounts. Act like a person discovering the platform, not a marketer targeting it.
Phase 3: Participation (Day 7+)
Make your first post — simple, non-promotional content. Engage with other people's comments. BE HELPFUL! From here, you can gradually increase your activity every day.
The Golden Rules
- No Automation: Never use bots or scripts during the warming phase.
- Device Consistency: Use the same device and location throughout the entire process.
- Advice: Don't start using bots.
- Additional tipp: Don't ever use bots.
We mean it. It ruins everything and you will be back to Zero fast (without knowing it).
A shadowban is an automated action where a social media platform restricts the visibility of a user's content without notifying them.
Don't got there, really.
- Plus, this is not the web we (including you) want to have.
- Plus/Plus, this is the reason why SignalHunt was created and is successful - the app is here to make it faster, a lot actually, but we don't do automation.
